Do You Dream of a Stress-Free Holiday?
The holidays can be wonderful, but they can also be very stressful, even though year after year we aim to create a stress-free holiday season. Holiday Perfectionism, poor planning, unrealistic deadlines and exhaustion can take the jolly out of the holidays for many of us.
I know that I get caught up in my perfectionism. The house must be cleaned, decorated, and be fabulous for the holidays. The gifts must be meaninful and exactly what they were hoping for. The dinner must be the juiciest, tastiest in the land. Then, reality hits and I either drive my self to exhaustion trying to meet my own expectations or I end up being disappointed that it all didn’t turn out the way I had hoped.
Beverly’s Hot Tip For Building Resiliency and Celebrating Stress-Free Holiday Preparation Week:
Spending weeks or months striving to create the perfect celebration or in finding the perfect gift for that special someone can be a waste of time and energy.
Bring back the meaning of the holidays by simply showing people you appreciate them. Ask for suggestions from those that you are celebrating with. Find out what really matters to them. You might be surprised that it has nothing to do with the gifts that they receive.
Keep your expectations in check.
Remember that it doesn’t have to be the most unique or expensive gift or the biggest spread that the family has ever seen to make a lasting impression.
