“It is a gorgeous July morning. My children are outside playing. I have finished watering my newly planted grass seed and now it is time to focus on my business. I am finally feeling like my life is in balance”.
Life In Balance Builds Resiliency
This moment was a reflection on life that I had several years ago. It didn’t mean that my life wasn’t chaotic. I had two young sons – who played hockey and who took guitar lessons. I had a husband who was in senior management and who was also working on his Masters. We were blessed to have many grandparents who needed various levels of attention. And I had a growing consulting business that took me across this beautiful country. I was feeling good about how the various aspects of my life were coming together.
At that moment, I was satisfied with the time and energy that I was spending on the various aspects of my life.
Beverly’s 3 Tips To Life In Balance And Bring Back That Feeling Of Satisfaction:
First –
The realization that I have a purpose in this world and that this world has a purpose. Things happen for a reason. I continuously look for better ways of doing things – but I also know in my heart that things will work out – no matter how tough or out-of-control.
Second –
I try to be comfortable with who I am. I am not a model. Or a superhuman. I try my best to take care of myself. I need of sleep. If I don’t get 8-9 hours – I don’t function. My family and my business need me to function. I try to eat well – and I still love my Haagen Das ice cream.
Third –
I enjoy the little things and look for the awesome. In my reflection above, my day started outside, watering and weeding. We purposefully moved to our home in the country – in the middle of a bush – with a pond full of frogs and fish – with gardens full of phlox, lillies and black-eyed susans. For me, this is nature at its most glorious and it helps to ground and center me.
Each day I experience different challenges, but these Life In Balance tips keep me focused, resilient, and content on my journey.

Beverly,
I think you pretty much covered all the aspects of living a “balanced” life. There is no set equal distribution of how much time you should be spending in one category of your life. I love how you embrace and appreciate all the different aspects of your life and how each one is important to you. Life is a journey and we need to be accepting of its bumps and turns. As long as we remember our priorities and what keeps us happy nothing can stop us from being successful.
